HISTORY: In March of 2001, we decided to do a bone marrow drive in honor of a friend of hours who had been diagnosed with an acute form of leukemia. Then we discovered that it costs $80.50 to type one person for possible bone marrow donation. We are trying to get people typed in a college community, and we could not very well expect people to be able to pay for themselves. We decided to go about fundraising. Many hours were spent cruising the internet looking for ideas. This was one. We put our own spin on it. My goal was a quick $500 since we didn't get started until March. It left us one month to put this together. We were able to net $1300. |

CONCEPT: The concept is a simple one. 1400 plastic Easter Eggs, donated gifts and services from area merchants, The Easter Bunny and a place to hold the drawings. We solicit gifts and services from area merchants and split them up into prizes in value of from $5 to $25. We put numbered slips in 1400 Easter Eggs with some of the numbers corresponding to prizes. People buy the eggs for $2. We like to have a 1 in 8 chance of someone winning something. Then people sign the slips of paper and put them back in the egg. We have a drawing the last day for grand prizes totaling over $100. |
